Lengths

Where the veil falls is affected by your height, where you place the veil on your head and the fullness of your gown.  To get a better idea of the length you prefer put on you gown (and all the undergarments you will wear under it: bra, slip and SHOES make a difference). Place a string where you want to wear the comb for the veil and have a friend spread it straight down your back to the where you want the veil to end.  Be sure the back of the dress is not crumpled and it hangs smoothly.  A full-length mirror really helps.  You can use a hand-held mirror to see your back in the full-length mirror.

Shoulder
The shoulder length veil touches your shoulders or slightly covers them.

The Communion Veil is often falls in the shoulder length category, though it will fall differently on a smaller body. Be sure to measure the young lady to find her preferred length.

Elbow
The elbow length veil reaches your elbows or your waist.

Finger Tip
The fingertip length veil should just graze your fingertips when your fingers are extended.

Waltz
The waltz length veil should end 8” to 12” above the floor or just about knee length.

Chapel
The chapel length veil falls just above the floor or to the ankles.
Cathedral
The cathedral length veil trails behind the gown on the floor like a train.
